just trying to get an accurate idea of the purpose of this tribe.
see, I'm not atheist, nor am I agnostic. I have belief, and I have faith.
I just don't care to give it a freaking name or join a freaking club.
and I've really had it up to HERE with all religions, because religions are just a way for people to join clubs and get in arguments over bullshit. arguments that often lead to someone getting killed...
and furthermore religion defines nothing. everyone has a sleightly different belief, no matter how accurately they try to follow a specific creed. in my opinion, there are as many definitions of 'god' or the universe or the nature of life and reality and what-not as there are people on this planet.
so I just want to be clear. is this a Tribe for people who have no belief or faith of any kind? or is it just a place for people who are sick to death of religions, like me?

Rayburn,
The way I see it, if the concept of "god" has very little or no meaning to you; if the presence / absence of "god" really doesn't affect your life in any way, then this tribe is for you. It seems as likely to me that some apathiests might believe in a god, but figure that its' influence on their lives is either so minimal or subtle as to escape any sort of measurement or method of determination, as some apathiests simply don't believe. I think the question to ask oneself is: Do I care (if there's a god or not)? If the answer is "yes", then you're likely not an apathiest.
This is just my personal take, though :-)
Regards,
John, who might not be an apathiest, because he took the time to write this :-)

Timbomov,
... then I wouldn't be reading it :-)
This tribe has a distinct (and measurable) effect -- I can measure the time it takes me to read and respond. I can also measure the time it takes me to read holiday stories about big men in red suits who live in the north pole with elves ...
Regards,
John

Re: not atheist, not agnostic.. still belong here?
Mon, February 27, 2006 - 12:47 PMit is another home for the ultimately pointlessness of things that mean sod all in my life but are here not the less. there is an odd comfort to this. a place of little influence that does not try to be anything more or less than what it is. and what it is, like all else is what you make it.
