i meant it in the emotional/psychological sense.

i don't know how meaning enters into the matter of a sick animal when no one is around.

meaning is everywhere you look. society is full of it: illusion. there is no getting away from it. the mind chatters away...even when all is quiet. the end of illusion is clinical death.

all living things are capable of suffering (not the type of suffering i'm refering to). we can only speculate to what degree because we're not them. if i'm hungry enough, i might eat that suffering animal.
