I am new to this tribe thing and joined this as it seems a novel idea to have friends. I was very excited to find this group on Apatheists . I have been telling people around that nowadays it is so wierd that religions are becoming more important the belief in god itself and thus are eventually defeating the very purpose of those religions themselves. well ...... in anycase, I am looking to make some good decent friends with similar outlooks and also exchange ideas and thoughts. Cheers !

Re: Hello people - new guy here
Thu, December 18, 2003 - 5:55 PMHey New guy!
I am New girl.
I think it is very important for those of us who actually have open mindedness about religion to be connecting nowadays- I don't believe we are going to evolve as higher beings unless we can get out of this "religious war" loop our culture and others seem so fired up to continue with.
Can't we all just get along without the whole, my god can beat up your god B.S.? -

I agree whole-heartedly with the sentiment on the front page--that being that one's religious beliefs (functionally, one's laws of morality) are completely irrevalent in the here-and-now.
Immediately following our last car accident or perhaps an unsuccessful bout with an uncannily accurate paper cut, well, that's a different story. At least one of us on this dirtball is bound to be surprised by what is on the other side of The Veil. However, that has no bearing on others' beliefs and imposes no obligation for one to push one's own beliefs upon another.
As I believe the wiccans say, "An' ye harm none, do what ye will."
"Unfortunately", I believe we have grown up in an extraordinarily liberal-minded society. One that does not flinch at debauchery, liscentiousness, and moral apathy. This of course is perfectly lovely to me, however, the pendulum swings both ways and I believe that those that are coming of age now are not of like-minds with me on this. I suggest to you that in the years to come the sustained efforts of people like us to present to the world a liberal and free-form sense of morality--one that does not impose itself on others but merely presents itself for all to see and in essence lives by that wiccan mantra--will backlash and create a (balancing?) extreme of harsh conservatism and reinvigorate what are in my opinion antiquated laws of morality.
Wow, that was fun to write! Any comments?

Mon, December 22, 2003 - 9:25 AMHello There.
Tribe is fun, although you will et bizarro e-mails now and again. I saw apatheists and was pretty happy since I belong to ZPG. The religion schtuff is kind of overwhelming during the holidays ie: the consumerism religion.
You should start a tribe called new guy!
