Thank God that God is irrelevant

I am happy to find this group, as I often find myself very apathetic to the whole notion of religion. I get worried when religion influences political systems. So, I have not attained 100% apathy with God-related questions. But I am working on it.

I think I am well on my way to achieving apathy. I no longer try to argue with religious people, even buddhists (who are at least funny). Now I just try to fall asleep when they are rambling on with their nonsense.

i disagree. without god, how could we go about answering tough questions such as:

    - is it ok to buy alcohol on sundays?
    - is masturbation immoral?
    - when is one country justified in bombing another country?
    - why is my uncle gay, and will he go to hell?

believe me, i've had discussions about these questions and many like them, and the existential vertigo intellectual overwhelmedness i feel can only be mitigated by reference to a biblical passage.

i, for one, have no stomach for doubt of any kind, and to rest sturdily on my arbitrary convictions gives me a peace of mind unattainable by other means.
